• IEEE MOVE Interested Group Form

    Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/407879

We are delighted with your interest in joining the IEEE MOVE Community Outreach initiative. The MOVE program is looking for qualified volunteers who not only have a deep passion for humanitarian work but also the expertise, wisdom and time to commit in support of the program. We are currently seeking candidates for leadership positions of committees and working groups for our global program expansion. Currently we are looking for volunteers in support of our programs in Puerto Rico. We realize that few people have the ability to extensively volunteer to a program such as ours. It is through the diverse efforts of committee members, each contribution their time and resources as they are able, in a combined effort that allows us to address the many programmatic needs. Information you provide will allow us to appreciate your talents and time so we can best engage you in the program. For more information, you can visit the (https://move.ieee.org/) webpage. Thank you! Co-sponsored by: IEEE MOVE Puerto Rico Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/407879

  • A Balanced Approach to Assessing Climate Risk Adaptive Capacity in Food and Beverage Subsector Organisations

    Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/551073

Despite the potential negative impact of climate-related risks on Manufacturing and the Food and Beverage Manufacturing Subsector (FEMS), no known studies have assessed its adaptive capacity maturity or provided suitable tools for evaluating its ability to manage these risks in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T). This e-speech discusses the findings from investigating the dynamics of climate risk, assessing the adaptive capacity maturity of participating FEMS organisations in T&T. A self-assessment approach can be adopted with integrated organisational performance and balanced scorecard methodologies to enhance resilience to climate-related risks. A mixed-methods approach consisting of four distinct phases was utilised: - Phase 1 synthesised the determinants of organisational adaptive capacity, - Phase 2 involved a survey of the T&T FBMS to assess adaptive capacity maturity and identify the most influential determinants of adaptive capacity, - Phase 3 prioritised these determinants of adaptive capacity using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and - Phase 4 involved the development and validation of a Climate Risk Adaptive Capacity Self-Assessment Scheme (CRACSS) in the fourth phase. It was found that the adaptive capacity elements were least implemented, but they appeared to be more specific to building adaptive capacity and beneficial to organisational performance at T&T FBMS.
