Dear IEEE R9 Volunteers,

This is a kind reminder that the IEEE Region 9 has invited you to participate in the nomination process to the R9 regional awards. The Expiration Dates for some awards are coming! 

We remind you that this is a great opportunity to recognize the achievements of our distinguished members and volunteers. The process is simple and starts with the nomination that is performed online from everywhere at anytime! You probably know IEEE volunteers and contributors who deserve this recognition.

We list below the available regional awards and the associated rationale:

  • IEEE Latin America Eminent Engineer Award

Recognition to those members of Latin American Sections that have contributed significantly to the promotion and development of IEEE fields. Expiration date to present nominations: January 20, 2019.

  • IEEE Latin America Outstanding Volunteer “Oscar C Fernández” Award

Recognition to IEEE R9 Volunteers who had an outstanding performance in their R9 Section. Expiration date to present nominations:January 20, 2019.

  • R9 Best Achievement Award

Offered to the Section that, in the R9 Regional Committee´s view, has carried out a relevant activity in the year previous to the Regional Meeting that deserves a recognition when applying the assessment criteria. Expiration date to present nominations:February 24,  2019 (10 days before the Regional Meeting, scheduled on March 6-9, 2019)

  • Student and Young Professional Activities Prominent Supporter Award

Recognition to the contribution to the student and/or young professionals (YP) activities in IEEE Latin America. Expiration date for nominations. January 20, 2019.

  • Meritorious Service Award

Recognition to the R9 members who, through their professional and technical capacities, have carried out outstanding contribution to the IEEE, its communities, profession companions and colleagues. Expiration date to present nominations: January 20, 2019.

  • Outstanding Section Award

Recognition to the outstanding success of a Section when attempting to fulfill its goals in accordance with the IEEE policy through the organization of technical, professional and geographical activities for the benefit of members and through supporting the Student Branches and Chapters, Society Chapters and Affinity Groups within its geographic boundary. Expiration date for nominations:February 15, 2019 (third Friday of February).

Estimados voluntarios de IEEE Región 9,

Este es un gentil recordatorio de que IEEE Región 9 los ha invitado a nominar candidatos para los premios regionales. Las Fechas de Expiración para hacer las presentaciones de algunos de esos premios están muy próximas!

Como indicáramos oportunamente, esta es una oportunidad para reconocer los logros de nuestros miembros y voluntarios destacados. Y el proceso comienza con la nominación. Seguramente Uds. conocen varios potenciales candidatos que ameritan este reconocimiento. El proceso es online, sencillo y puede realizarse desde cualquier lugar y en cualquier momento. 

Cada uno de estos premios tiene sus propios criterios por lo que a continuación les suministramos el detalle de los premios disponibles en la región:

  • Premio Ingeniero Eminente del IEEE Latinoamérica

Reconocimiento para aquellos miembros pertenecientes a cualquiera de las Secciones que forman la Región Latinoamericana, que hayan contribuido en forma significativa a la promoción y engrandecimiento de las disciplinas profesionales que forman parte del IEEE. Fecha límite para presentar propuestas: 20 de enero de 2019.

  • Premio al Voluntario Sobresaliente Oscar C Fernández del IEEE Latinoamérica

Busca reconocer y estimular a los voluntarios del IEEE en la Región que hayan contribuido en forma sobresaliente en su Sección del IEEE Latinoamérica. Fecha límite para presentar propuestas: 20 de enero de 2019.

  • Premio Regional al Mejor Logro

Se otorgará a la Sección que a juicio del Comité Regional haya realizado una actividad de tal trascendencia en el año anterior a la reunión, que sea merecedora a este reconocimiento de acuerdo a los criterios de evaluación. Fecha límite para presentar propuestas:24 de Febrero de 2019 (10 días antes de la Reunión Regional a realizarse del 6 al 9 de Marzo)

  • Premio Contribuyente Destacado de las Actividades de Estudiantes y Jóvenes Profesionales

Reconoce la contribución a las actividades estudiantiles y actividades de jóvenes profesionales, YP, en la Región Latinoamericana del IEEE. Fecha límite para presentar propuestas: 20 de enero de 2019.

  • Premio al Servicio Meritorio

Reconoce a los miembros de la Región 9 que, a través de sus capacidades profesionales y técnicas, han hecho contribuciones sobresalientes y notables al Instituto, sus comunidades, compañeros de profesión y semejantes. Fecha límite para presentar propuestas: 20 de enero de 2019.

  • Premio a la Sección Sobresaliente

Reconoce el éxito sobresaliente de una Sección en el cumplimiento de sus objetivos – de conformidad con la política de IEEE – mediante la organización de actividades técnicas, profesionales y geográficas para el beneficio de sus miembros y mediante el mantenimiento, la mejora y el apoyo a las Ramas Estudiantiles, Capítulos y Grupos de Afinidad dentro de sus límites geográficos.Fecha límite para presentar propuestas: 15 de febrero de 2019 (tercer viernes de Febrero).
