Smart antenna array system for the supervision of electric power distribution switches.

febrero 28 @ 9:50 am - 10:10 am -03

Smart antenna arrays are currently an integral part of cellular telecommunications systems, whether in switched or adaptive modes. This technique, in switched mode, has also been used, on an experimental basis, by researchers from the Microwave group at Dep. of Electronics and Systems at UFPE to supervise remote devices around a radio base station. The devices may be electricity distribution switches, for example, which are currently monitored by electricity distribution companies using vertical arrays of folded dipoles installed in their substations. The replacement of dipole arrays by intelligent arrays increases the capacity of the system supervision. This lecture describes its operation with smart antenna arrays and presents experimental results of a pilot system installed in a substation of an electricity distribution company (Neoenergia).
