I’m writing to you on behalf of the coordinating team from Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany, for the Soft material robotics program SPP2100. We are organizing a workshop with the title «Leveraging advancements in smart materials science: Soft robots gaining new abilities through smart and functional materials» at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) in May 2022 in Philadelphia, and will provide five scholarships to young researchers working in soft robotics to attend the conference. The scholarship is primarily aimed at motivated young researchers from underrepresented backgrounds who are unable to afford the costs associated with conference attendance (and are not authors of accepted ICRA 2022 papers).

The scholarship will include:
– Conference and workshop registration fees
– Flight tickets

To apply for this scholarship, the applicants have to send us their CV and a motivation letter outlining their current relationship with soft robotics topics, their experience in the field, and their career goals. Applications must be made as soon as possible to leave enough time for the applicants to apply for visa.
