ETHICS COMPETITION

The Ethics Competition is organized by the XXIX SBRM 2026 through its Ethics Committee. It challenges IEEE students to analyze real-world ethical dilemmas within the fields of engineering and technology.

The Challenge

  • Study Objective: Promoting professional ethics, responsible decision-making, and awareness of the social impact of technology.
  • Team Structure: Work must be performed in teams composed of 3 to 5 IEEE Region 9 students.

Competition Dynamics

  • Case Study: Teams are provided with a scenario involving an ethical dilemma in areas such as AI, data privacy, sustainability, or social responsibility.
  • Analysis: Teams must identify the core dilemma, detect ethical conflicts, and analyze involved stakeholders using multidisciplinary perspectives.
  • Ethical Framework: Key use of the IEEE Code of Ethics to justify decisions regarding public safety, honesty, and privacy.
  • Proposal: Teams must present a clear, viable solution with solid arguments and an analysis of possible consequences.
