We are a non-profit organization that has dedicated itself to supporting Geoscience and Remote Sensing education and research in Brazil. Our goal is to enhance communication and collaboration between academia, state administration, and industry.

Since the nature of science has changed, we want to stimulate members to become more interconnected, interdisciplinary, collaborative and data-intensive. Collaboration has become critical to solving complex problems. Our Chapter wants to stimulate scientific collaboration among different research areas (e.g. Computer Vision, Environment, Agricultural, Forestry, Urban Planning, etc) by putting the researchers from these areas together.

Chapter members benefit from various programs including the Distinguished Speakers, Regional Speakers, and other Education and Awards program, provided by GRSS in support of Chapters. Thus, enabling researchers from both academia and industry to work together in open networks that transcend borders, advancing useful science, stimulating knowledge sharing and reproducible research.

Officially formed on February, 17th, 2015 this is the first Brazilian and thus far the only GRSS chapter in Brazil. It encompasses a territory of about 8.500.000 km2 and is directly linked to IEEE Brazil’s Council.

We have been organizing since 2015 on a yearly basis a quite large number of successful Workshops and Summer Schools in Brazil. The Summer Schools occurred under cooperation with the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS). Both Societies also allowed us to promote a reasonable number of Special Issues and Special Streams that have been promoted among members of the GRSS’ Brazil Chapter and other GRSS’ members in Latin America. Please join us and let us make the GRSS’ Brazil Chapter even stronger by promoting Geoscience & Remote Sensing.
