Member of the GRSS'Brazil Chapter Board delivered a special talk at UDESC

On February 27, the head of the Amazon Regional Center (CRA), Dr. Alessandra Rodrigues Gomes, deliver a special talk dedicated for Young Professionals about Forest Monitoring Initiatives and Research Opportunities for both Graduate and Undergraduate Student of the Forest Engineering Program at the Santa Catarina State University (UDESC). The Forest Department is located in the Southern Plateau of the Santa Catarina State and located at the city of Lages. Dr. Alessandra Rodrigues Gomes also took part as an external examinator in three public Master defenses from February 25 to 27.

Dr. Alessandra Rodrigues Gomes, a current member of the Brazil'GRSS Board, shared her professional experience at the CRA by conducting several educational initiatives for tropical forest monitoring. CRA is one of the regional centers established by the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). She also shared her experiences by being an invited researcher at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN) and as a speaker at several international climate change conferences. About 30 young professionals attended the special talk.

Dr. Alessandra Rodrigues Gomes also took her time to visit the Geoprocessing Laboratory and talked with both master and undergraduate students from the Geosciences group led by GRSS Members, Prof. Dr. Marcos Schimalski and Prof. Dr. Veraldo Liesenberg.
