Call – Video Games: Vocabulary Standards
IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Argentina – Games Technical Committee convenes representatives and experts from the video game industry who wish to collaborate voluntarily in the first steps to the definition of a vocabulary standard.
The Video Game Industry requires standardized terminology to be developed more effectively. To this end, IEEE has the institutional resources and formal procedures approved internationally.
The steps are several, but generally consist of:
- Form an international expert group (English French language).
- Propose to IEEE the expert group.
- Once the group is accepted, prepare the terms and their definitions.
- Propose to IEEE the standard.
Among the terms that can be proposed are those such as: gameplay, setting, playtesting, mechanics, aesthetics and others used de facto in the processes of development, industrialization, consumption and dissemination of the activity of the sector, which have so far been taken from other industries such as those of software but may or may not accurately represent the interests and realities of the video game sector.
Currently, we have more than 80 terms gathered.
Those interested in forming the team of collaborators, both individuals and belonging to educational institutions or companies, can apply in the form below. Then you will receive a message with the steps to follow.
From now on very grateful.
