WIE (Women in Engineering) is an affinity group associated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). It has been established as an organization dedicated to promoting girls and boys in science and engineering, inspiring them through learning and initiative to propose ideas based on their own needs and developing them through engineering.

WIE Mission

WIE’s mission is to facilitate the entry of women into technical disciplines around the world, promoting the talent of men and women collectively for the purposes of innovation and for the benefit of humanity. IEEE WIE strives to:

RECOGNIZE the achievements of outstanding women in engineering and volunteer work through IEEE WIE Awards nominations.

ORGANIZE and participate in technical and professional events to encourage the creation of WIE affinity groups.

SUPPORT volunteer women leaders within IEEE and the advancement of women in their careers.

CREATE spaces for participation in the personal and professional development of women in engineering-related activities.

FOSTER the IEEE Student-Teacher and ResearchEngineer/Scientist [STAR] program to advise high school students through volunteer student and professional affinity groups.

CARRY OUT joint activities with the Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology [SIGHT] to generate a country with a social and humanitarian focus.
