Ilya Espino de Marotta currently serves as Deputy Administrator of the Panama Canal. And she was also recently appointed as a Sustainability Officer. She began his career in the interoceanic waterway in 1985 at the Canal repair and maintenance shipyard. She has more than 35 years of experience in the Panama Canal. Prior to her appointment as the Canal’s first female Deputy Administrator, she was Vice President of Operations and led the culmination of the Panama Canal Expansion Program as Executive Vice President of Engineering.
Ms. Espino de Marotta earned a bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering from Texas A&M University. She earned her master’s degree in Economic Engineering from Universidad Santa María La Antigua in Panama City, Panama. He participated in the Executive Development Program at INCAE Business School and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and holds a project manager certification from the Project Management Institute.
