This isn’t a “regular” hackathon
On Saturday 16 August 2025 we’re turning the classic hackathon on its head. The “COPA & AWS Hackathon” is a one-day, high-energy experience where people from any discipline — team-up to crack real aviation problems using today’s most exciting tools: cloud, data, and generative AI.

Format: In-person
Target Audience: People interested in data management, data analysis, and the use of artificial intelligence in the commercial aviation industry.
What is it?
A Hackathon is a competition held by multidisciplinary teams to solve, within a defined timeframe, a series of challenges created by both Copa Airlines and AWS. These challenges are based on real-world commercial aviation data, utilizing data analytics technologies, generative artificial intelligence, and AWS cloud services.
What will you do?
You will solve a series of Capture the Flag-style challenges in a maximum of 6 hours, with real-time scoring.
You’ll use tools such as:
- AWS (credits provided)
- Data engineering and modeling
- Prompt Engineering
Daily Schedule
- Challenge presentation by AWS and Copa Airlines: 30 minutes
- Challenge development: 6 hours (including lunch integrated into the activity)
- Awards ceremony: Gala dinner
- Total duration of the activity: 6.5 hours
What do you need to participate?
- Create a team of 4 people
- Each participant must have a laptop
Recommended basic knowledge in:
- AWS (recommended)
- Data analytics (recommended)
- Be curious, proactive, and able to work under pressure in a team
