En el marco de la Semana de Capacitación de la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos, se presenta la conferencia "La Evolución de las ANN", un recorrido histórico y técnico por las Redes Neuronales Artificiales: desde la primera neurona matemática de McCulloch-Pitts (1943) hasta las arquitecturas de aprendizaje profundo actuales. Implicações da Teoria da Potência Instantânea
Prezados(as), É com grande satisfação que o Capítulo Estudantil PELS/IAS UFRJ convida todos a participarem da nossa próxima palestra técnica no auditório do PEE (H322) no dia 11/8 às 14h! Resumo: Mais de quatro décadas após sua introdução, a teoria de potência instantânea (teoria pq) permanece como um dos conceitos mais influentes em eletrônica de potência. Enquanto é amplamente reconhecida em suas aplicações de filtros ativos, compensação na qualidade de energia, e muitos outros sistemas de eletrônica de potência, seus princípios fundamentais oferecem oportunidades que se estendem muito além desses usos previamente estabelecidos. Esta palestra revisita a teoria a partir de uma perspectiva moderna e explora se novas aplicações ainda podem surgir de seus conceitos mais primordiais. Através de certos exemplos, será mostrado que a teoria de potência instantânea continua a revelar insights na análise, controle e operação de sistemas contemporâneos de eletrônica de potência. Biografia: Prof. Pablo Acuna obteve o bacharelado (B.Sc.) em Engenharia Eletrônica e doutorado (Ph.D.) em Engenharia Elétrica na Universidad de Concepcion, Chile. Atualmente, é professor associado no departamento de Engenharia Elétrica da Universidad de Talca, Chile, onde realiza pesquisa em eletrônica de potência, integração de modelos, prototipagem de rápidos sistemas de controle, e sistemas de controle avançados em conversores de eletrônica de potência. Acuna é autor em múltiplos artigos científicos nas áreas previamente mencionadas, é diretor do programa de mestrado em Engenharia de Conversão de Energia Elétrica e também é diretor do programa de doutorado em Engenharia na Universidad de Talca. IEEE WIE R9 Regional Meeting 2026-WIE Section Chairs Meeting
The IEEE WIE Region 9 Regional Meeting 2026 will take place on August 13th in Quito, Ecuador. This strategic meeting aims to strengthen collaboration among WIE sections across Latin America and the Caribbean, align regional initiatives, and enhance the impact of WIE programs. The session will provide an opportunity to: Share best practices and successful initiatives from different sections Identify common challenges across the region Strengthen the regional leadership network Align regional actions with WIE global priorities This meeting will contribute to the growth, sustainability, and visibility of WIE in Region 9 while supporting leadership development and knowledge exchange among volunteers. 1. Saludo de la presidenta: La presidenta del capítulo inició la reunión dando la bienvenida a los asistentes. 2. Salida Baker Hughes: La Rama IEEE ha organizado una visita a las instalaciones de la empresa multinacional Baker Hughes con el objetivo de familiarizarse con la base de operaciones, el mantenimiento y los servicios que ofrecen. Esta salida está programada para el día 20 de Agosto. 3. Curso PLC: Se planea reiniciar el mini curso de PIC para aquellos interesados. Este continuará realizándose los sábados, así que los invitamos a participar. 4. Juez Competencia de Robótica Colegio Técnico Superior: El Colegio Técnico Superior requiere jueces para el torneo de Robótica que se llevará a cabo el día 3 de septiembre. Aquellos interesados pueden contactarse al interno con la presidenta 5. Encuentro de Robótica Club los lagos: Los días 10 y 11 de septiembre en el Club los Lagos, se llevará a cabo un encuentro y competencia de Robótica organizada por la CORHUILA, con un costo de $250.000. 6. Competencia de Robótica SOFA: Durante la semana de receso de octubre en Bogotá se llevará a cabo el SOFA, y estamos planeando ser partícipes. Para ello, es importante que aquellos interesados se organicen en equipo y comiencen a trabajar en sus robots para la competencia. Pueden solicitar los materiales necesarios para la construcción. 7. Feria Universitaria de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación del Huila FUCTIH: Los días 15 y 16 de Octubre se realizará la feria universitaria de la USCO (FUCTIH). En este evento el capítulo RAS organizará la competencia de robótica, Por lo que no solo seremos los encargados de llevar a cabo la competencia, sino que también podremos ser participantes en ella. 8. AI and Cyborg Intelligence Conference & Student Branch Recognition
The IEEE Aguascalientes Section participated in a conference at the UAA South Campus featuring “Artificial Intelligence and Cyborg”, presented by Dr. José Ignacio Castillo. The conference provided an opportunity to explore topics related to artificial intelligence, cyborg technologies, and their implications for the future of engineering and technology. The activity was coordinated by Dr. Alejandro Román, with the special participation of IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE). As part of the activity, a symbolic presentation of awards was held to recognize the student branches of ITPA (EDINGER) and UAA (SARA). This recognition highlighted the participation and contributions of student branches within the IEEE community. The activity concluded with a networking coffee break, providing an opportunity for attendees, students, academic representatives, and IEEE volunteers to exchange ideas and strengthen professional connections. IEEE Institutional Presentation and Collaboration Opportunities
The IEEE Aguascalientes Section held an institutional presentation at SEMTECH to introduce IEEE, its initiatives, and the opportunities available for collaboration with the organization. During the session, Dr. Jorge Varona and Ing. Tania presented information about IEEE and discussed potential areas of collaboration, highlighting opportunities to connect professional, academic, and technological initiatives with the IEEE community. The activity included the special participation of representatives from Young Professionals (YP) and Women in Engineering (WIE), providing an opportunity to present different IEEE communities and encourage broader participation in professional and technical activities. The meeting promoted institutional engagement, networking, and the development of potential collaborations between SEMTECH and IEEE. Learning Objectives: • Learn about IEEE, its initiatives, and opportunities for collaboration. • Identify potential areas of cooperation between SEMTECH and IEEE. • Promote participation in IEEE communities such as Young Professionals (YP) and Women in Engineering (WIE). Linux For Newbies
Linux for Newbies is an event designed as an introductory workshop for learning the Linux operating system. It explains how its main components work and provides each attendee with recommendations on which Linux distribution to use, along with general tips and advice. The event also includes a hands-on component where participants will learn how to use commands in the terminal.
