The annual election results are now public and can be found on the Annual Election website (www.ieee.org/elections). The IEEE Tellers Committee certified the result of votes in the 2015 IEEE Annual Election yesterday October 9 and all candidates were notified. In this election we have got the following figures:
Total Ballots Mailed = 311,507; Total Valid Ballots Returned = 41,497; Percentage Returned = 13.32%
Teofilo J. Ramos, Director of Institutional Relations, Tecnologico de Monterrey, Monterrey, Mexico has been selected as the 2016-2017 IEEE Region 9 Delegate-Elect/Director-Elect. Pending acceptance of the IEEE Teller’s Committee report by the IEEE Board of Directors on 22-23 November, Teofilo Ramos will begin serving as IEEE R9 Director on 1 January 2018. He will succeed 2016-2017 IEEE R9 Director Antonio Ferreira, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The other two candidates for the 2016-2017 IEEE R9 Delegate-Elect/Director-Elect were Ignacio Castillo, Mexico DC, Mexico and Enrique Tejera, Panama city, Panama.
Of the members who voted, 618 selected Teofilo Ramos, 614 selected Ignacio Castillo and 500 selected Enrique Tejera. The valid votes received represents 18% of the ballots mailed.
Karen Bartleson, Senior Director of Corporate Programs and Initiatives, Synopsys, Mountain View, California, USA has been selected as the 2016 IEEE President-Elect. Pending acceptance of the IEEE Teller’s Committee report by the IEEE Board of Directors on 22-23 November, Bartleson will begin serving as IEEE President on 1 January 2017. She will succeed 2016 IEEE President Barry L. Shoop, U.S. Military Academy, West Point, New York, USA. The other candidate for 2016 IEEE President was Frederick “Fred” C. Mintzer, Yorktown Heights, New York, USA.
Of the members who voted, 22,367 selected Karen Bartleson, 17,887 selected Frederick “Fred” C. Mintzer.
